Look, I’m already back! And it’s only been one week since my last post! Progress, my friends, progress.
Today is #GivingTuesday (#hashtag), meaning Thanksgiving break is officially over. Back to life. Back to reality. Which for me means… lying in bed on my computer. For what it’s worth, I did get up early to work out. However, a post-workout discovery of a near empty fridge was enough to throw me into a depression that propelled me back to the comfort of my (cat-inhabited) bed. And so here I am.
I’ve been reading a lot of articles lately on “how to make the most out of your life!” It seems as if in a world constantly bombarded by death and disaster, people are being reminded of the preciousness of life. Isn’t it sad that we need to be reminded at all? In any case, I was struck by one such article introducing an app that displays a countdown to your predicted death. The point of the app is, “to terrify you into productivity, turning mortal dread into a procrastination preventative.” (Fun fact: I originally mis-typed that as “moral dead”, which I believe is also applicable to “the times” if you will. But that’s a much-larger topic for another time.) While I can potentially see the attractiveness of such an idea, am I the only one who thinks there might be something wrong with this approach? Personally I’d rather not be “terrified into productivity”, but inspired into it. Anyway, that’s just my two cents. Who thought they were going to be getting an opinion column here at Little Bee today??? Just trying to keep it so fresh (and so clean, clean) for y’all. You’re welcome.
In other news, I should probably get out of bed for real this time because I’ve got “acting things” to prepare for and work on. On today’s agenda: 1) Audition for Toyota 2) Workshop with Eric Souliere (casting director at UDK, responsible for American Horror Story, The Mentalist, and Glee, among others).
Wish me luck!
