Last week was a whirlwind. As many of you know, last summer I got the opportunity to play one of the leads in Wong Fu Productions’ (FIRST) feature film, “Everything Before Us”… and now… it’s finished! It’s ready! We made a movie! And it is amazing.
Wednesday night was the private screening for cast/crew and some industry peeps. Not sure if “industry peeps” is the proper term but just roll with it. It was my first time seeing the film, and being able to watch it sitting in a packed out theatre with my friends and everyone who made this thing happen… man, the feels were at 110%. The support was overwhelming and my cheeks were hurting from smiling so much. I mean look at how happy I am just to be with the poster!
To be fair, it’s a really great poster (designedbyJennetLiawcheckoutherwebsitefictionalsupplydotcomforevenmoreamazingness).
The very next night was the world premiere at opening night of the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. To be opening such a historic and prestigious film festival was an honor. And seeing Wes, Phil, Ted, Christine, and Chris up on that stage introducing our movie… my heart was so overwhelmed with happiness and pride for them. Five of the humblest, most hardworking, kind, amazing people I have the privilege of knowing and working with and can now call my friends. I am beyond grateful to be a part of this film and this journey with them.
And now for some exciting news. The team will be taking “Everything Before Us” on a quick college tour before releasing the film on Vimeo on Demand (June 3rd! Mark your calendars!) and my very own alma mater NORTHWESTERN is one of the privileged few! And here’s another bit of exciting news… as an extra special treat for all my fellow wildcats, I’ll be joining the team for their Northwestern screening! Y’all know how much love I have for my city, and I couldn’t possibly miss the opportunity to share our film at the very place my love for filmmaking was born 🙂 So Northwestern (and Chicago!) we’re coming for you May 2nd!
