RPJ, aka that feature film i was working on, aka the reason i have been mia for the past month

hello! it has surely been a while since my last substantial update… but not without good reason. the first two weeks of may i have been working on my first feature film: richard peter johnson! this time around i wasn’t acting, but instead i returned to my film production roots as… 1st Assistant Director! it was my first time as 1st AD but i was SO fortunate to have been able to work with an incredible team, who have since become my friends πŸ™‚

for all y’all non-film people, the 1st AD’s job is essentially to boss everyone around… for those of you who know me well, it probably comes as no surprise to you that i had a great time bossing my team around and keeping everyone on task and organized. it was a huge task and definitely a huge challenge at times, but above all, i enjoyed it 110% and learned an incredible amount.

i love that i have been able to pursue all these various aspects of filmmaking (and with my friends to boot!).. it’s comforting (and exciting!) to know that if i choose not to pursue acting in the long term, i have interests and experience in many other arenas πŸ™‚ BUT! don’t go thinking i’m moving on from acting quite yet. while i love all aspects of filmmaking, acting is still my truest passion πŸ™‚

and now, here is a photo of me wearing one of my many hats – no, not the Bulls hat (poor D Rose….) but rather the “hat” of 2nd AC (aka the girl who gets to clap the slate) during our last shot of the film. fun film fact: the last shot of a film is called “the martini shot” – hence the martini i drew on the slate :p
